Radiotheatre's ALFRED HITCHCOCK FESTIVAL
Come in out of the cold into the 190 yrs old, candlelit St.John's Sanctuary in historic Greenwich Village, NYC, where the critically acclaimed, award-winning Radiotheatre will present seven suspense-filled tales in repertory...all 1940s radio adaptations of classic films once directed by the Master Of Suspense, himself, Sir Alfred Hitchcock. Classics include: STRANGERS ON A TRAIN; SUSPICION; THE BIRDS; SHADOW OF A DOUBT; REBECCA; THE LODGER; THE 39 STEPS. In the 40s, when Radio was King, truncated versions of motion pictures were performed weekly live on stage in LA (often with the same superstar casts including Cary Grant, Joan Fontaine, Bette Davis, Humphrey Bogart, etc.) before live audiences and accompanied by live orchestras. Radiotheatre has adapted seven Hitchcock radio classics to fit its own unique format complete with its own original symphonic scores, a great cast of performers and a plethora of sound FX...just bring your imagination!
